"A hey nonny nonny!" Great drawing of the Mercian/Krazy Kritter Freedom Fighters, like the windy, blue sky background! Hope we see more of King Rob O' Hedge, Queen Mari-an, their son "Little" Jon, Friar Buck, Bow Sparrow, Thorn the Lop, Alan Quail and Munch soon and hopefully, their bring Lord Hood down for good when they do!
Unfortunately, because of the Penders, Archie, and Sega issue going on, legal rights got Rob'O'Hedge and Mari-an removed, along with other lovable characters such as Julie-Su and Saffron. If you don't believe me, think about the new archer with the same accent as Rob's and the new bunny female that's a part of the group. They are the replacements of Rob'O'Hedge and Mari-An. Another incident is with the Echidnas including Julie-Su, and Saffron. Remember "Endangered Species"? Well, since Thrash threw them out the Warp Ring, they won't be coming back at all... It kinda hurts me to say it and I feel like giving up right now, but yeah... sometimes, you gotta face the truth ._.
This looks like it could work as an official comic cover, if not for the whole joojoofloop situation with Pender's copyright recolors. I'm not sure really how to peg the coloring style, it's not strictly cell shading but not strictly soft either... what it is is gorgeous. Herms better step up his game, 'cause you could be gunning for his job. The wind effect is also really nice; how did you do that?
Thanks! Yeah, the joojoofloop bugs me a lot, but we can't really do anything aboot that. Oh well. I don't really want to take anyone's job, but working on the book at least a few times would be a childhood dream come true.
The wind effect was just a bunch of white strokes of various sizes then blurred.
There's terrific. Although Bow and Thorn won me over with their humorous portrayal it's good to see Rob and Mari-An return to fanart. I'm glad there are more heroic bird characters in the ArchieVerse. With the return of Harvey Who, Alan Quail (hey nonny nonny) and Bow it provides a nice contrast to Bean, the Babylon Rogues, and the Battlebird Armada. It used to bug me when entire species were portrayed as evil (the dingoes only had Harry as a secret echidna sympathizer and he was also lazy and somewhat cowardly with a tendency to downplay his role. Flynn at least gave Von Stryker some depth and a moment of compassion and loss regarding his son.) As for the art, your colors stand out as being very impressive, as usual. The composition is great and everyone is still in perspective which can be tricky in a lineup like that, so props to you. I like that you captured the personalities easily in the expressions. Rob is slightly wary but determined, Mari-An is ready to defend herself and the group, Munch has his blade out and a wry smile, Alan's singing of course, and Buck looks contemplative. Very nice.
Thank you very much for the comment! Yeah, it's great to see these awesome avians take the spotlight a little more these days (Now we need Cyril back), so you should be happy when you see version 2 of this picture.
Splendid work Ziggy! As always your colouring is awesome, but the lineart is what really stands out to me in this pic even more so then your usual standard of amazing colouring. Your drawing style has really evolved and grown in these past months, and its getting better and better with every pic! It sorta reminds me of a cross between Matt Herms' cartoony style, and James Fry's edgy lineart, but all together it just looks wonderfully unique!!! (which is something you don't see much anymore in current sonic artists, and something I really like a lot)
Only now am I beginning to see that not only should you be a full time colourist for the comics, but perhaps a penciller on occasion as well Keep up the great work Ziggyfin! I look forward to seeing more!
